Most Japanese industries like
Toyota, Sony, Toshiba and Honda took the lead and the market when they
implemented the benchmarks of Focused Management Initiatives, other
organizations joined the trend, namely; General Electric and Motorola, then recently; LG, Ispat, Tata,
Citibank, American Express, Info sys, Dow Company, etc.
Focused Management initiative can
be gradually implemented in any organization by creating “New Initiative Department”
(NID) consisting of Cell Coordinators of (TPM, TQM, PMS, etc) under the Head of
NID.
The best
practice is to form the NID Team from existing departments, namely; Human
Resource, Production and Maintenance, Quality Control/Assurance, Customer Service
and Marketing, Logistics and Procurement, Safety, Costing and Accounts.
Under a Cell Coordinator, are Facilitators
that work as a team.
The Head of NID, Cell
Coordinators and Facilitators that formed NID Team are recommended for general
and specialized training on the Benchmarks and Concepts of Focused Management
initiative. As you can see, it is not all about a Manager or Director but a
Team.
The NID Team
is tasked with the responsibility to make the Concept of Focused Management
Initiative an Attitude of all the Workforce of their Organization.
